Swimming

Last night we spent the evening swimming. It was such a warm day and I had been trying to get a lot done around the house with our making much headway. So after many hours of eveyone being grouchy and me very short on patience, we blew it off and went to the pool. We had a great time. After about 90 minutes there was lightning. and so we went and grabbed dinner. We then headed back for the last 30 minutes and had the whole pool to ourselves. The kids had more fun during that time playing with the lifeguards. Lilly also was pretending to be a crocodile and chase everyone around. It was so cute. The day ended on a great note and I threw the laundry to the wind. It can wait.

Boston turns 12

I always told my kids that by their 10th birthday, they were done. They weren't allowed to get any older. Guess that doesn't really work.
As he is now twelve I guess I am beginning the teenage years.
I am so excited for him, there is so much for the world to bring.
Happy Birthday Boston!

My Little Boy

It is the end of the school year for my kids. They would say finally and be very excited but for me it is bitter sweet. I am excited to have them home and to swim and all the other summer activities, but it was sad to say goodbye to some fabulous teachers this year and to have them grow up another year.
It was especially hard to watch Boston graduate from elementary. I can't believe we are moving on from that era of our life. I am so proud of him and excited for what is in his future. Yesterday I wasn't prepared for the emotion that hit me and still do if I give it any thought whatsoever. Adam cried when he went to kindergarten and I cried when he finished. but we are onto a new exciting part of his life and I wish him the best of luck and promise to always be here for whatever he needs.
Congratulations to Mary and Zane as well. Now we just have to convince our preschool dropout that school is actually okay.

Lilly

As I was vacuuming the stairs today I realized I was doing it with both Lilly and Lulu. I was holding the vacuum and Lilly was doing the hose on the stairs and Lulu was one stair above us monitoring and making sure we did it correctly. No wonder it takes so long to vacuum and I am sweating by the end.

I was getting ready today and Lilly was taking a bath the whole time. So that consisted of about 40 min and I asked her if she was ever going to get out. Straight faced told me in 7 years. Like she knows what that means. She then proceeded to go about her business.

Lilly handed me her play phone the other day and asked me to talk to her boyfriend. I was suppose to tell him that he is bugging her and to quit calling.

Where does she come up with these things?

Father's Day

Yesterday was Father's Day. I was the flakiest daughter and wife this year. I didn't send any cards and got frustrated finding that special gift for Adam and gave up. But I want all to know how much I appreciate the Father's and Men in my life. I couldn't survive without them.

Adam is my rock. He is what helps me through everyday. The kids adore him, especially Lilly right now. She only tolerates him being out of town because she gets to sleep in his spot. I also appreciate him being worthy to baptize Mary and Boston in getting the priesthood. I can't imagine my life without him. He is my best friend.

Happy Father's Day to the Dad's in my life.

Hairspray

I am sitting here watching Hairspray with my kids. I am not embarrassed to admit that I saw it like 6 times in the movie theater. Lilly and I would go during the middle of the week when we needed a good laugh and a smile. She loves it as much as I do, and I find that impressive for a 3 year old. She never complained about seeing it again and again. She is sitting here glued again tonight.
A few of my favorite quotes from the movie.
"Don't test me Tracy, my diet pill is wearing off."
"Imagine! My little girl... regular, at last. "
"Motormouth Maybelle: Well, love is a gift, a lot of people don't remember that. So, you two better brace yourselves for a whole lotta ugly comin' at you from a neverending parade of stupid. Penny Pingleton: [deadpans] So, you've met my mom? "
"Well, I had a dream that I would own a coin-operated laundromat but I came down from that cloud real quickly!"
"This heart only beats for size 60. "

Youniverse Personality TestYouniverse Personality Test

The last week...

I haven't taken time to blog during the last week. So much has gone on, but I just haven't taken the time. Part of my problem is my missing camera. There has been so much I wanted to take picture of and no camera. I took the card out of it the other day and put it in one of those amazingly safe places that I can't ever find again. Bummer. But, I can at least update on the last week.

  • Lilly and I went to the zoo last week. It is one of our favorite places. Es;ecially for Lilly. She is always asking if we can go to the zoo. Usually around 4:00 in the afternoon, but we were actually able to schedule it and go. We loved it and she wanted to see everything. We didn't make it everywhere, it is a large zoo, but we did see the important things. She is very interested in crocodiles right now. It is so cute the way she says it and we try to throw in into conversations whenever we can. We have found these toys that she can play zoo with. She takes them everywhere and is obsessed. We have to have a male, female and a mama for each that we have been able to find. I have been very impressed with the toys and Lulu has only managed to eat one giraffe's leg.

She creates her own zoo. You have to love toys that promote imagine and creativity like that. It always makes me smile. We finallyfound her some beloved crocodiles.

  • For Mother's Day I received tickets to go to Mamma Mia downtown with Mary. I saw the play a few years ago with my mom and Tanya. It was so fabulous and I didn't stop talking about it for months. It was the perfect Mother's Day gift. Mary and I went out that night for a girl's night and thoroughly enjoyed outselves. Although it was a very late night for her. I got her diet coke and a shake with whip cream in hopes to give her a little bit extra energy. She still got tired. If you have an opprotunity to see the play it is so well worth it's money. I am determined to take Adam next time it is in town.
  • Matt and Tanya came for the weekend. My dad was in Ks. delivering a car and hanging out with them. He flew out on Saturday. It was a nice visit with my father even though it was short. He was able to help Boston with his trombone. We hung out and had a good time. It is always a good time when they come visit, especially since they are comfortable enough at my house that it is just relaxed. I don't have to entertain. We just hang out. Tanya even got Matt to have a pedicure while he was here. I was shocked. I couldn't ever get Adam to do that. Matt complained though and said he would never do it again. His feet hurt worse afterwards. Crazy man.
  • We have great neighbors at our new house. We had a block party this last weekend. We had a bbq, played games, and chatted. It was so fun and great to learn more about our neighbors. We were really blessed with this neighborhood. Lots of friendly people and kids. It works great for us.
  • Lilly and I went on a field trip with Zane's school class yesterday. It was so much fun to see him interact with his friends. We went to a museum that had an outdoor farm attached that focused on the early 1800's. Lilly had so much fun watching all the animals and we were able to get so close to them. They have cats that live on the farm and are very independent. You see bowls with cat food sat around the farm. We found a family fishing and one of the cats had taken up fishing with them and was patiently waiting for them to catch something. When the boy did the cat was so excited although it was catch and release and they threw him back in. But it was so cute to watch. Zane is so such a sweet kid. He makes me absolutely nuts sometimes, but still held my hand in front of all of his friends. I sure love him and had a great time.
  • Lilly comes up with the craziest things. I told her we had to go pick up Mary from Gymnastics last week and told her we had to go. She informed me that she didn't have a car yet and then that she wasn't old enough to drive. She couldn't drive until she turned 4. Where does she come up with these things?
  • My car has been in the shop for the last week. It is a long story and I will blog about it later. It is a headache, but I keep reminding myself that I am blessed.
