Crazy Excitement at Our House

We have what we believe is a mild case of chicken pox at our house. All the kids have been immunized so it is mild, but still...This is Lilly's I am not happy about you taking my picture face.
She has a big boo boo in her arm pit. Otherwise the rest are chicken pox. We are hopeful that it stays mild. I feel bad for her but she isn't feeling too terrible yet. Cross your fingers.

Today

Today we took Izzy for a much needed bath. We took her to the dog park before to help wear her out and then headed to the neighborhood Wag N Wash. Here she is afterwards, exhausted and not happy. She doesn't love her baths although she is very patient and tolerates them. We call her fuzzy butt for the next few days because the dryer makes her hair all fuzzy on her bum. It is so funny. But here she is with her back end on the chair, head resting on Lilly and the front paws dangling between the seats. At the dog wash they have cats that roam the store. Lilly loves cats and we found out today that she like many of my children are very allergic. She is so mad about it. She was convinced that she was getting a cat as soon as Mary went to college and her dad could go live with Mary. Now she is allergic too. So much for dreams.
I feel so bad. She looks so miserable.

Sleep Over

Mary's Gym had a sleep over for all the team girls this last weekend. I was in charge of food and t-shirts, so I hung out till midnight. I am just not the night person I used to be. I came home to sleep in my bed. They played games, bonded, played music really loud, sang Hannah Montana songs, danced, did crazy gymnastics things (like flipping off the rafters into the pit), and ate yummy food. I gave up about the time they were setting up their beds and watching a movie.
I painted 40 of these shirts this last week. It was insane. Then we were able to print their hand prints on them to look like chalk. They are so cute!

Scout Camp

My son returned home from a week at Scout Camp. I am so proud of him and so glad he is back. I missed him a lot. Zane is just glad he can share the jobs with Boston again. He also spoke in Sacrament for the first time today and did fabulous. I am so proud of him.

Lilly turns 5 and Everyone starts School

(Be warned, lots and lots of pictures to follow)

Today was Lilly's 5th Birthday and she started Kindergarten. I kept telling her that was the perfect way to make friends. Show up with cupcakes the first day of school. She has been so excited for so long. She even got up on time, which you guys know is a big deal. She loves her sleep. Especially sleeping in late in the morning.

Today Mary started 4th grade and Zane started 6th. Next year I will have one in middle school and one in high school. I think I just aged myself. The kids were so excited to start school and they love their new teachers. Jack, my nephew, is living with us right now also and started. He also scored with his teacher. It looks like it is going to be a great year.
The sun was bright. I think that is the reason for the crazy face.

Mary came over to check on Lilly while waiting for the bell. They still look a little tired

Mary and her friends were so glad to see each other. She looks so much older.
3rd to 4th grade is a big jump.
Lilly was able to bring her teddy bear for comfort. It was cute to watch all the kids with their stuffed animal to help them survive.
Lilly's teacher made her feel so special for her birthday.
It made the first day of school much easier.
She got to wear the crown all day. She then wore it at home again that evening.

She thought it was so cool. It was so cool to see her excited. I was worried about her but she settled in just fine. Silly me.

He she is trying to figure out how to sign I love you. Kind of hard for those little fingers.

Lilly's teacher read them The Kissing Hand. All the parents were allowed to stay and watch and listen. Such a sweet story. She wore her hand necklace until this morning when she got dressed. She was disappointed when she got to school without it.

Success!
She ran out to greet me with a huge smile on her face.

She wanted to go to Claire's to spend some of her Birthday money she received. So she bought a necklace and sunglasses. She had more fun picking out that stuff. School was very overwhelming and she still has no bones in her neck. She completely folds in half when she falls asleep in the car. I left is on the side because I feel bad for her neck. thought maybe this would help.

One of her birthday presents was a new bike. We added the basket with the "stuff" inside.

Lilly picked Red Robin for dinner. Her favorite place.

They of course have macaroni and cheese. Of course better than what we can make at home for some reason. They sang to her and brought her an ice cream sundae. What could make a 5 year old happier? They tied balloons to her spoon. That is how.

Birthday cake and presents at home.

An old fashion gum ball machine. She is all the kids best friend.

She wanted a remote control car. So we found her one of a jeep just like her dad. She wanted make up, jewelry, princess phone and remote control jeep. You have to love little girls. They are all girl with a little love of cars. I haven't been able to get her off her bike since she got it.
And then it was off to bed. It was 10:30 before were able to get her to sleep. She was so wound up. So this morning when I tried to wake her up I was told that she was busy. We made it though. She had another wonderful day. So did the other kids.

Our 4th of July

Down Pour * Good Food * Warm S'mores* Good Friends * Fun

Roomba and the Dogs

Adam is scoring big this year on the coolest gifts. He bought me a Roomba, which we have named Freddy the Butler. It is a robot vacuum that works better than you can imagine. We are all so entertained by it and can watch for longer than I care to admit.
The best part is watching the dogs with it. My 14 lb pug isn't afraid of it and has a stand of with it when it gets too close. The 70 lb lab is terrified of it.
I can't explain it, but we are highly entertained. This is Izzy hiding around the corner from it.
Lulu attacking it and trying to figure out exactly what it is and why it is occupying her space on the carpet. They really did have a stand off the other day over who was going to have to move.
Because they are cute and they were staying away from the Fred.
Izzy trying to climb into my lap to escape Freddy. Hi, she is a big dog.

Our afternoon at the museum

Here are the girls and the boys checking out the Skyline. It is beautiful. (By the way, Zane did Lilly's hair and picked her clothes today. He was very proud of himself.)

The kids were scientist.

The mind games began. The trick was to be the most relaxed. These two went on for more time than anyone else that I had been watching. The more you relax the easier it is to move the ball with you brain. Don't ask, I don't get it, but it was really cool.

Look at her concentration. She actually beat me. She was so proud of herself.

Zane's interpretation of a mummy.

Dinosaur exhibit. What more can we say.

Mary was ready to go home. We were tired.
